The article brings the data analysis of clinical studies together with therapeutical strategies in patients with acute stroke that lead to reduction of risk of recurrent ictus. The article analyses the effectiveness of the hypertension treatment to prevention of acute stroke in the context with other major cardiovascular accidents. It compiles final results from the latest large clinical studies that were planned for populations with higher cardiovascular risk or straight for patients after stroke (PATS, HOPE, PROGRESS). From the secondary preventive aspect (prevention of stroke recurrencies) and on the basis of the present completed clinical studies, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, some Ca channel antagonists, anticoagulants and antiaggregants rightly got to the limelight and clinical use.
