Background. In association with inflammatory theory for atherosclerosis was actualised a necessity to identify a markers, which would be with high prediction attests inflammatory process, but at the same time would be able to show tight relationship to initiation of this illness. From proteins of acute inflammation phase the C-reactive protein becomes the object for detailed research, and interpretation. Description. Focus of description is therefore concentrated part from basal information about it on verification its prediction in prognosis of ischemic events on the basis of atherosclerosis. Apart from analysis of numerous effects, also its possible proatherogenous influence is under research. Pathognomic stiffness with atherosclerosis is derived from its ability to bound on damaged cells membranes, and to oxidised particles, and to accumulate in atherosclerotic plaques. In this connexion stimuli, which regulate its production suggest a lot. More and more is emphasized, that also its basal concentration predicts in healthy people occurrence of sudden ischaemic events, very often in short future.
