Chronic heart failure is a syndrom with high prevalence in well developed countries and belongs to most common causes of morbidity and mortality, despite modern evidence based treatment. New modalities of the syndrome are nowadays investigated in order to improve prognosis of patients. One of the feature of heart failure, which was until recent time out of interest, is quite common incidence of mild to moderate anemia in these patients. This anemia becomes more frequent and serious with progresion of heart failure and is significantly more common in hospitalized patients than in outpatients. Its etiology is multifactorial. Correction of anemia in heart failure leads to improvement of symptoms and probably to better prognosis of these patients.s
