At the beginning smoking is psychosocial addiction and after many years of smoking in 85 % of smokers also pharmacological addiction is added. WHO reports five million people die of diseases associated with smoking as tumor diseases, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory system diseases, negative effect on the development of the fetus and others. In treatment of smoking addiction mostly the following ways are used: legislative regulations, individual and group counseling therapy, nicotine substances replacement therapy and other pharmacological substances e.g. bupropion (ZYBAN) and vareniclin (CHAMPIX). Medicamentous therapy can significantly help smokers to overcome difficulties with giving up smoking and withdrawal symptoms.
