Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is a serious consequence of pulmonary embolism associated with considerable mordidity and mortality. It develops in about 0,1 - 3,8 % among patients who survive pulmonary embolism. The authors described 56 old woman, who despite thrombolytic therapy and next appropriate antikoagulant therapy was rehospitalized afted 5 years for severe pulmonary hypertension, due to chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Patient underwent pulmonary endarterectomy succesfuly in NYHA III, after 4 month was in NYHA I. In chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is pulmonary endarterectomy if correct indicated the curable method, warranted substantial improvement of life quality and survival.
