The treatment of atrial fibrillation, and in particular its complications, is becoming a significant medical problem. To the predominantly pharmacological treatment, in the last few years, was added a new dimension of treatment with catheterization ablation techniques.A significant group of patients with implanted pacemaker has also paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. For this group of patients with AF preventative stimulation is available in the form of sophisticated pacemakers DDDRP.By individually programming the preventative algorithms, it is possible in part of the group, to eliminate or at least significantly reduce the number and duration of paroxysms of atrial fibrillation. Preventative stimulative algorithms, due to their unique effect, prevent the development of electrical or mechanical remodelation, and remove the necessity for further anti-arrhythmic treatment with medication. Such sophisticated pacemakers also allows precise long term monitoring of all types of arrhythmias.
