The neuroinfections belong to the most serious diseases in the infectology. The common characteristic of the serous neuroinfections is the preponderance of the mononuclear cells in the cerebrospinal fluid examination and the culture examination. Etiologically they are involved in a wide range of pathogens, out of which especially important are those which are causally treatable. The serous meningoencephalitis affects all age groups, immunocompetent and immunocompromised. Their course is very variable and the prognosis often depends on early diagnosis and adequate treatment. The diagnosis of the serous neuroinfections is based on the history, clinical picture, liquorological examination, serological and molecular biological methods and imaging examinations.
