Disorders which are typical spontaneous attacks of systemic inflammation without apparent infectious or autoimmune aetiology are denoted as autoinflammatory disorders. Contrary to autoimmune diseases autoantibodies and autoreactive T-lymphomas are not typical for these nosologic units. A common feature of autoinflammatory syndromes is systemic inflammation. Besides the tumour necrosis factor (TNF) also IL-1 plays an important role in inflammation response. Targeted treatment to remove disturbed immunological mechanisms linked also to improvement of clinical course of some autoinflammatory diseases is used in the development of new therapeutical procedures in autoinflammatory diseases. Anakinra belongs to this class of medicines.
