Summary: Coronary revascularization of patients with coronary heart disease (CAD) is the effective and life-saving procedure today. It makes symptoms less problematic, prolongs life and improves quality of life in these patients. Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) become dominant over the fibrinolysis in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome with ST elevations (STEMI). Nowadays it is the most effective treatment of acute myocardial infarction. The following long-term medical treatment is also important and it means: 1. in-hospital treatment in the early hours after intervention, 2. in-hospital treatment in the following days, and 3. long-term treatment after leaving the hospital including the secondary prevention of CAD.
