Despite advance and new knowledge in the management of arterial hypertension, there are still many patients with insufficient control of blood pressure values. Insufficient control of blood pressure in most patients with arterial hypertension could have multiple reasons both from the physician side as well as the patient side. Treatment simplifying with fixed combinations of antihypertensive drugs helps to optimize the management of patients with arterial hypertension. Use of the fixed combination containing angiotensin converting enzyme and calcium channel blocker has wide broad evidence based medicine. It leads either to decrease in blood pressure values but also to reduce the cardiovascular mortality in several patient groups. European guidelines for the management of arterial hypertension prefer to use fixed combination in the treatment of patients with arterial hypertension.
