Postcatheter urinary tract infections (UTI) are most frequent hospital nosocomial infections and they are almost serious
problem also on internal medicine departments. To the substantial part from them we can prevent with right prevention
and in others we can stop more serious disturbances of the health. Urine catheter can cause not only UTI, but also
other infections types, for example blood born infections. On the evolution of the postcatheter UTI influences many
risk factors, most important is clinically significant bacteriuria ≥ 102 CFU/ml of the urine (or urinary nitrates) and leucocyturia
≥ 5 Le/power field (or higher leucocyte esterase activity), new perspectives are opened with quantitative PCR
test 16S rRNA. Important is to keep catheter indications Guidelines of the medical associations. A substantial part of
the paper are preventive measures in details to stop postcatheter UTI.
