Sticky platelet syndrome (SPS) is a prothrombotic disorder of platelet function with possible presence in several family
members, associated with platelet hyperaggregability in response to the induction of aggregation with adenosine
diphosphate (ADP), epinephrine (EPI), or both inducers. The first clinical manifestation in relatively young individuals,
its involvement in pregnancy, seriousness of the manifestations, simple and effective treatment point out to the
need to take this syndrome into account in the differential diagnostics of the cause of the thrombotic episode. As the
thrombosis may be developed in various parts of the circulation, a multidisciplinary cooperation is often required. This
article describes the clinical features of discussed thrombophilic state, its diagnostic algorithm and the possibilities of
the treatment.
