Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by dysregulated inflammatory response of organism to an infection.
It is the issue of increasing importance of internal medicine due to increasing number of hospitalizations,
high mortality, spectrum of affected patients, particularly older and polymorbid, its complications and consequences.
Dysfuntion of the cardiovascular system is limiting for surviving. It is characteristic by hyperdynamic circulation,
increased cardiac output and decreased systemic vascular resistance. Myocardial dysfunction is often global but
reversible. Severe complications are arrythmias and ischemic episodes. Early diagnosis with use of imaging technics,
laboratory markers, their correct interpretation and treatment helps to improve the surviving of septic patients.
