Autors presents the case report of the 69 year old man suffered from welder’s lung, bronchiectasias and recurrent
pneumonia. He had extensive adhesions and fibrotic changes of the lung. He was admitted to the I.internal clinic
for nausea, vomiting, diarrhoe, weight losing and malnutrition. The amyloidosis of the small bowel was diagnosed,
the various specialized examinations were used. The state was complicated with recurrent bleeding from gastrointestinal
tract. Administration of the terlipressin and other complex therapy was required. The therapy was complicated
with acute cardiac failure and pulmonary oedema with death, in spite of resuscitation. An autopsy revealed
secondary amyloidosis not only gastrointestinal tract but the whole organs in the body. The cause of the death was
an acute myocardial infarction. of the amyloidosis affected heart. The authors analyze the definition, characteristics
and complications of the amyloidosis. Article contains endoscopic, histological and autopsy images.
