Functions of the vascular endothelium represents very difficult complex system, that enables flexibly react to internal
and external stimuli. Endothelium is very dynamic organ with its autocrine, paracrine and endocrine functions and has
its internal regulatory functions and homeostatic mechanisms.Internal and external factors influence such vascular
functions as are inflammation, vasomotoric tone and homeostasis between thrombosis and anticoagulation. Pathophysiologic
result is atherothrombosis with its clinical manifestations as are cardiovascular events. One of the main
pathophysiologic factor is LDL-cholesterol, with it’s variability, thus representing the new marker of the cardiovascular
morbidity and mortality. Nowadays it seems, that an important role represents also human microbiome. Bacterial cells
inside it reach ten times of the host’s cells and genes encoded more than hundred times of the host’s genes. Thus the
gut microbiome represents the new paradighm for the future of preventive medicine.
