About 70% patients with chronic HCV infection suffer from extrahepatic manifestation. Mixed cryoglobulinemia,
membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, leucocytoclastic vasculitis, lichen planus and non Hodgkin lymphoma are
the most frequent extrahepatic manifestation of chronic hepatitis C. The evidence about higher risk of diabetes mellitus
type 2 and cardiovascular diseases for patients with chronic hepatitis C is increasing. Extrahepatic manifestations
affect the morbidity and mortality of infected patients in a significant way. However, effective antiviral therapy
can possitively influence the run of extrahepatic manifestations. Moreover, the extrahepatic manifestations are often
the only sign of the disease and their recognition enables to determine the diagnosis early by asymptomatic patients.
