The majority of known nephropaties could rapidly progress and finally result to the chronic renal failure, especially in patients with genetic predisposition. Authors discussed importance of the kidney in human body, its functions, and why it is necessesary to make early diagnosis of nephropathy. They describe the main factors of progression of renal diseases, their role in development of the renal failure, and possibilities to decrease their influence on the kidney. In management of nephropaties they underlined the general principles of therapy, mainly adequate fluid balance, diet and weight reduction. To treat hypertension, hyperfiltration, proteinuria, tubular hypermetabolism, anaemia, hypercho-lesterolaemia, oxidative stress, immunologic inflammation and obesity is highly recommended.
