The invasive and therapeutic procedures in pediatrics are focused on improving and maintaining good health condition in the child examined. While performing these procedures, it is necessary to act with regard to mental stability of the child so that the child is not excessively stressed. It could evoke long-lasting consequences in the form of abnormal dependence on the mother, negativism, nightmare, etc. In preparation, the child’s age and individual characteristics as well as the type and severity of the procedure should be considered. It is vital to involve parents in the preparation of the child and they should be allowed to be present during the interventions as well. Invasive procedures raise the child’s fear, disturb its trust and attack its self-confidence and self-control. That’s why it is optimal to use goal-directed pre-surgical preparation programs.
