National Immunisation programme of the Slovak Republic (NIP SR) is a comprehensive preventive programme directed to vaccine-preventable communicable diseases. It is a complement of the governmental health policy and its public health impact significantly influences the national epidemiological situation. Organisation, management and control of vaccination are legislatively based. The key tool for its successful implementation is planning at all levels. Management of immunisation program is based on the management of vaccination as such and maintenance of vaccines. NIP SR is shared by several partners with different objectives, needs and view of planning. This should be harmonised and the standard goals should be followed with one common goal – benefit for all recipients of vaccination. NIP SR has a great impact not only on the health of individuals (individual impact) but also health of the whole population (public health impact).
