Introduction: Breastfeeding is the most complete and perfect form of nurture and nourishment for infants. Objective: Both paediatric health care providers and parents should be aware of potentially serious complications of unrecognized insufficient or inadequate breastfeeding intermittently requiring hospitalization and treatment. Patients and methods: In this retrospective study, we report on 20 breastfed children who developed failure to thrive, and in 16 (80 %) one of the reason for this condition was inadequate milk intake. Conclusion: Increased efforts are required to establish additional education and follow-up monitoring of successful breastfeeding. And it is necessary to worn on possible risks of unrecognized insufficient breastfeeding.
