Upper respiratory tract infections (known as a common cold) are acute transmitted virus infections. At present time it is referred, that 80 - 95 % of acute respiratory infections are virus origin and antibiotic treatment is not require, only in bacterial superinfection. Virus and bacterial infection in the respiratory tract induces an early local inflammatory reaction. This inflammatory reaction has beneficial effect to destruction of the pathogens, but also can cause tissue damage and vascular alteration leading to the recurrent infection. There are a lot of drugs for symptomatic treatment of acute respiratory infections, none is direct curative. Fusafungin is a naturally occurring antibiotic with anti-inflammatory properties, which selectively targets the tissue reaction of respiratory mucosa and preserves the natural antibacterial and antiviral defenses. Local administration of drugs directly to the target site of infection, enable in smaller dose a high concentration and give rapid relief.
