The aim of this work is to draw attention to celiac disease and its prompt diagnostics through different possible clinical manifestations. An overview of relevant publications dealing with the definition, incidence, various clinical manifestations, diagnostics and treatment of the celiac disease is presented in the work. In two case reports of children hospitalized at our department we want to point out errors in diagnostic process delaying prompt diagnosis and potential treatment and thus damaging the patient. The children were bioptically diagnosed with celiac disease in spite of gluten-free diet immediately preceding the biopsy. This gluten-free diet was recommended due to increased anti-tTG antibody tests. We want to point out the necessity of biopsy in the diagnostics of celiac disease which is the contemporary gold standard.
