Opinions for correct treatment of asthma changed during years several times. Because the cause of the disease was unknown, treatment was aimed mostly to relieve symptoms as cough, whizzing sounds and dyspnoe. Asthma is not only spastic constriction of bronchi but also the disease characterized by strange chronic eosinophil inflammation that is present even when a patient looks healthy. This finding has recently brought revolutionary changes in long- term treatment of asthma anchored in regularly, usually annually actualized consensus on diagnostics and treatment of bronchial asthma. The last important revision of the international consensus Global initiative for asthma (GINA) was performed in 2006. Its result is the change of position of antileukotriens (LTRA) in controlling treatment of asthma.
