Dysphagial disorders in children can have more causes. Diagnosis is not easy. The authors present a case report of an 8-year-old girl with foods swallowing problems. The patient had verified Chiari´s malformation type 1 and later stenosis of the esophagus. At the beginning we focused on surgical intervention of stenosis of the esophagus and then, in case of failure, we focused on Chiari´s malformation (CHM). Primarily indicated dilation of the esophagus did not bring the expected effect. After the operation – myotomy and discision of stenostic segment, the clinical status of the patient was better. Dilations of the esophagus induced by stenosis have usually short-term effect. They were not effective in our patient. Dysphageal disorders subsided after operation of stenosis of the esophagus. And we did not indicate further intervention of CHM. Good clinical condition of the patient, subsided dysphageal disorders after surgical intervention of stenosis of the esophagus confirms our correct procedure. Later we can decide about intervention in case of CHM.
