Human papilloma virus (HPV) infections are common. Human papilloma viruses are pathogens associated with a wide range mucosal and cutaneous infections and a lot of clinical features in childhood. Different HPV types can cause common warts, genital warts, low-grade and high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions. The most common benign neoplasm of airways is Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP), which is caused by HPV types 6 and 11 and localised mainly in larynx. Differential diagnoses include more common illnesses – allergy, bronchitis, croup, asthma. Causal treatment of RRP is unknown, although histologically benign, can cause severe morbidity, bad quality of life of child and his family and death because of mechanical airway’s obstruction. The recently introduced HPV vaccination is expected to prevent HPV related cervical cancer in adulthood, quadrivalent vaccine has potential to reduce RRP, genital warts and other clinical features caused mainly by HPV types 6 and 11 on the top of it.
