Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis are the most frequent zoonotic diseases transmitted by ticks in the middle and northern Europe. One of the most effective forms of protection against disease of tick-borne encephalitis is vaccination. It has significant medical impact, positive economic impact for society and improves the quality of life of the population. Currently in Slovakia, the decision of being vaccinated is on each citizen. Consideration should be rendered especially by those living in endemic areas, or attending those areas because of doing sport, recreation etc., like forms of making healthy lifestyle. People must think about vaccination not only in Slovakia but also when travelling to endemic areas in Europe.
