Backround: Along with the development of detail classification of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and aspects of disease-related therapeutic methods, the need of evaluation of disease consequences and individual establishment of pathological process activity arises. Methods: Our study brings complex view on children patient with JIA of Žilina region with considering of disease activity according to Giannini´s criteria in relation to heterogeneity of joint finding, extra-articular manifestation, and joint disability evaluation with the aid of Slovak version of evaluating system CHAQ (Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire). Patients: In results of phase 1, we present evaluation of disease activity in 86 pediatric subjects – thereof 46 children with JIA (19,6 % with systemic beginning, 32,6 % JIA with polyarticular beginning, 13 % JIA – extended oligoarthritis, 34,8 % JIA – persistent oligoarthritis) at the age 6-19 years. Results: Maximum values for disease activity evaluation of all Giannini´s variables was recorded in systemic–onset of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and with decrease in course SoJIA – polyarthritis – extended oligoarthritis - persistent oligoarthritis. Conclusion: We clearly declare that JIA in our region activity of disease in children with JIA is significantly determined by disease subtype and shows extremely strong positive linear correlation related to the disease disability (phase 2).
