Recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRTI) present very frequent problem in daily praxis of paediatrician and also immunoallergologist and pneumologist. The most of these children does not show any big deviations in immune profile and through the treatment we want to achieve mild normalization of the immune functions (so-called immunomodulation or normalization). Among the natural-based agent used in the treatment and prevention of RRTI the most important are bacterial lysates, biologically active polysaccharides (glucans) and also systemic enzyme therapy (SET). Increasing number of positive clinical observations and trials and also gradual detection of particular mechanisms of action of SET in the organism lead to the stabilization of the position of SET in the management of RRTI.
