Rhinitis and asthma frequently coexist in the same patient. It is due to common pathophysiology and existence of united airways – the division into upper and airways is only didactic (doctrinal) and practical. From this premise initiative ARIA is getting up. In its current update (2010) the knowledge about rhinitis, asthma, their interrelationship, prevention ant therapy underwent strict revision. As a consequence, many myths were pulled-down. In this review we submit comprehensive overview about connections between rhinitis and asthma and the need for concomitant therapy, we refer to actual trends with stress on the crucial role of topical intranasal steroids in patients with rhinitis alone or combined with bronchial asthma, including children.
