The unusual case with fatal outcome of male infant is being reported by the authors. At the age of 2,5 month, the child was transported by emergency to the hospital after involuntary aspiration of milk. The urgent resuscitation was no effect. The clinical diagnoses prior of autopsy were SIDS, asphyxia due to aspiration, cardial insufficiency. To the great surprise, the microscopic examination of the heart had disclosed the myocarditis of giant-cell type (also known as idiopathic myocarditis, formerly known as Fiedler’s myocarditis), together with other degenerative changes of the myocardium. The case compare and contrast the clinical and pathologic evaluation of the rare inflammatory process that affect the myocardium.
