Sleep is an action, which is essential for the regeneration of the body at any age, not excluding the adolescent period. Currently, many epidemiological studies have confirmed the high prevalence of sleep disorders in childhood and adolescence period. Just specific age period characterized by puberty, development of personality, the influence of lifestyle, higher social and academic requirements of adolescents are often the first stimulus to the development of sleep disorders. The most common abnormalities include circadian rhythm sleep disorders and sleep disorder breathing. Diagnosis is based on history focused on night-time and daytime symptoms followed by appropriate auxiliary examinations in specialized pediatric sleep medicine centres. Adequate sleep hygiene with specific therapeutic approaches for individual sleep pathology is often helpful in treatment.
