In two case reports we present relatively rare causes of the symptoms mimicking the functional disorders of the upper gastrointestinal tract. In both cases the imaging diagnostic modalities have helped to establish the definitive diagnosis and indicated surgical correction resulted in symptomatic relief. We try to provide a concise overview of the diagnostic evaluation and treatment facilities of the described anatomical abnormalities (superior mesenteric artery syndrome and aberrant right subclavian artery) as well as obligatory consideration of the organic causes that can imitate the functional gastrointestinal disorders.
