Cerebral palsy – a severe neurological impairment causing long-lasting nonprogressive motor and postural disability –
represents lifetime medical and social problem. Its therapy should be complex and individually specific reflecting variability
of clinical signs and findings. The therapy is aimed to improve motor abilities of the children, to increase a quality
of life and to facilitate their social integration. The treatment of cerebral palsy include rehabilitation, pharmacological,
surgical, orthopedic treatments, and psychological, logopedic and special pedagogic support. For proper management
of a patient, cooperation of a multidisciplinary team of specialists and active participation of family members, school
staff and social workers is required. Authors provide a review of treatment modalities of cerebral palsy with a special
focus on various forms and methods of medical rehabilitation.
