Acute bacterial sinusitis belongs to one of the most common diseases of children in ambulatory practice. It affects all age groups. In the last years, have changed opinions on diagnosis and treatment of rhinosinusitis in pediatric and otorhinolaryngological society(3,9). Clinical signs and duration of sinusitis are different by children than by adults. Actual advised procedures on diagnosis and treatments enable us to ascertain right diagnosis, and to realize qualified treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis by children within first year of age to adolescents, even in an ambulance of general practitioner or pediatrician, without the need of utilization of radiography or other imaging methods. First well established form of acute sinusitis is persistent illness (nasal discharge of any quality or daytime cough, or both lasting more than 10 days without improvement. Second form called worsening course (worsening or a new onset of nasal discharge, daytime cough, or fever after initial improvement). Third form with severe onset of fever and purulent nasal discharge for at least 3 consecutive days(9). Acceptation of the recommendations AAP and EPOS 2012(3,9) give to wide professional community important tool, allowing well-advised treatment and relieve communication between specialists and health care providers.
Objectives: Actualization of standard processes by diagnosis and treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis of children and
adolescents.
Methodology: Analysis of available recommendations for a treatment of acute sinusitis, suggested by American pediatric
association (AAP)(9) and European position papers for treatment of rhino sinusitis EPOS 2012(3).
