Proteinuria is the presence of protein in the urine and is one of the most common symptoms of kidney disease. It may
be benign or is the first symptom of severe kidney disease. In the pediatric population, it is a relatively common finding
and is usually random finding. Together with arterial hypertension are the most important risk factor the progression of
chronic renal disease. It is currently recommended to comment proteinuria as urine protein excretion during 24 hours
calculated on the surface of the body. When determined from one urine sample (most frequently in infants and young
children), it is expressed using an index that measures the ratio of protein concentration to urine concentration of creatinine.
From the point of view of the management and prognosis of the disease, it is important to differentiate the benign
and pathological proteinuria with subsequent detailed nephrological examination.
