In medicine, exanthem accompanies many infectious and non-infectious diseases. It frequently becomes a subject of diagnostic hesitation.
The authors, in their work, present infectious exanthems from the view of clinical practice. They pay attention mainly to the most frequent exanthems and point out to the most serious manifestations. They attempted a certain practical differential-diagnostic approach, which involves mainly distinguishing severe clinical conditions from benign and infectious, allergic manifestations or aetiology from other reasons.
As in all medical disciplines, exanthems also cannot be approached just based on skin findings, but on a complex approach, including thorough history taking and physical examination.
