Premature delivery has been recognized as a high-risk factor for neonatal mortality and morbidity. Lower the gestational age and birth weight of the neonate higher the number of complications. Growth retardation, hypoxia and infection in utero have also negative impact on the fetal health. Nowadays the prognosis of the premature neonate can be improved by implementation of following practices : in-utero transpot of pregnant women with preterm labour to Perinatal Centers, antenatal steroid usage, antenatal antibiotics for preterm rupture of membranes, optimal management of labour and delivery by maternal fetal medicine specialist, experienced team responsible for resuscitation and clinical management by skilled neonatologist.
