Abstract: The article refers to an important aspect in antenatal screening of chromosomal abnormalities in routine practice – the most exact determination of the length of gravidity. Statistical results are presented on the sample of 7,147 women. The need of determination of the length of gravididty by sonographic measuring of bioparameters is emphasized. Determination of the length of gravidity according to the date of the last menstrual period shows a significant increase of positive findings, i.e., patients referred to invasive diagnostics. Secondarily, the number of foetal loss related to this procedure increases. There were no significant differences in the number of positive findings between determination of the length of gravidity in the 1st and 2nd trimester.
