Hysteroscopy is a part of diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm in assisted reproduction. As a minimal invasive procedure it can be done as a part of one-day surgery, as a short ambulatory procedure under short anesthesia and also more times, if necessary. Via diagnostic hysteroscopy we can see the changes in the cervix and uterine cavity, which cannot be seen through ultrasound. Advantage of diagnostic hysteroscopy is its therapeutic effect in the treatment of infertility. It is built on the gentle dilatation of the cervix and the uterine cavity during hysteroscopy. Operative hysteroscopy treats the changes in the cervix and uterine cavity, mainly extirpation of uterine septum, polyps and fibroids is performed. Combination of hysteroscopy with laparoscopy is recommended, laparoscopic control during operative hysteroscopy is often necessary.
