Aim: The aim of the work is to compare success and occurrence of complications of vaginal tape without tension (TVT) and transobturator tape (TOT). Patients and methods: It was a retrospective monitored of a group of 154 patients (TVT: n = 31, TOT: n = 123). The occurrence of peroperative, early and late postoperative complications was monitoring and a subjective assessment of a result after 1 - 4 years. Results: Subjective assessment of the result of operation was comparable in patients after TVT (80.96%) and after TOT (82.35%).The occurrence of peroperative complications was 6.45 % in TVT vs 1.62 % in TOT, early postoperative complications 9.69 % in TVT vs 11.39 % in TOT and late postoperative complications 14.14 % in TVT vs 4.06 % in TOT. Conclusion: TVT and TOT have the same subjective result, however, retropubic approach is connected with higher occurrence of operation complications.
