Premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) beyond the border of viability represents for the fetus high risk because of infection and lung hypoplasia with adverse neurodevelopmental outcome. The adequate amount of amniotic fluid provides a number of important functions not only to the development of fetal lungs, but it contains nutrients and provides mechanical cushioning and antimicrobial protection. Oligohydramnios between 16 and 24 gestational weeks can result in limb deformation with muscle contractures. Regarding bad neonatal prognosis discussing pregnancy termination in these cases seems legitimate. In case when according to mother´s decision pregnancy will go on expectant management is appropriate with ultrasound monitoring of the fetus, monitoring of inflammatory parameters and application of widespread antibiotics and corticosteroids is needed.
