This survey study presents conclusions of recent studies in the field of ultrasound examination in the first trimester. It is focused on pregnancy of unknown location, bagel sign and blob sign in ectopic pregnancy, pregnancy of uncertain viability, innovation of biometry by CRL, brain mantle, first-trimester cardiac scan, evanescent pelvic translucency, semiautomated and 3D measurement of nuchal translucency, aberrant right subclavian artery, iliac crest angle, mitral valve-tricuspid valve distance, early prediction of foetal macrosomia, foetal hypotrophy and preeclampsia. Application of high-resolution ultrasound equipment by experienced examiners allows us to perform high-quality first-trimester sonography. The emphasis is put on pathology diagnostics and detecting of risk of later pregnancy pathology already in the first trimester.
