Developmental congenital heart defects are the most frequent anomalies of a human foetus. The incidence is 8 up to 9 out of 1000 live-born children. Good prenatal diagnostics enables a better pregnancy management and improves results of perinatal care. In foetal echocardiography, in the conditions of the Slovak Republic, the examination in so-called four chamber view is the absolute minimum in the assessment of the foetal heart. In this minimalistic approach it is possible to catch 30-50 % of all developmental congenital heart defects just from the 4D projection. As the second basal projection, in the essential heart examination, there should be imaging of “large blood-vessel crossing.” The aim of the work was to approach the diagnostic possibilities in 10 basic steps.
