The analysis of some maternal morbidity indexes in the Slovak Republic in the year 2013 is presented. The rate of caesarean
sections increased up to 30.8 %, the rate of vacuum extractions decreased to 1.2 % and the rate of forceps deliveries
was the same – 0.6 %. The rate of peripartum hysterectomies increased up to 0.11 %. Third and fourth-degree
perineal tears rate increased up to 0.59 %, but the frequency of episiotomies was the same – 65 %. Pre-eclampsia, eclampsia
and HELLP syndrome complicated 3.6 %, 0.17 % and 0.09 % of deliveries respectively. Frequency of sepsis during
pregnancy and puerperium, severe postpartum haemorrhage, admission to intensive care unit/department of anesthesiology
and resuscitation, placenta accreta was 0.02 %, 0.37 %, 0.15 %, and 0.10 % respectively.
