The trend of caesarean section in all delivery hospitals and regions in the Slovak Republic in the years 2007 – 2015 is analysed.
The number of maternity hospitals decreased from 63 to 54 and the number of deliveries increased from 51,146
to 55,139 per year. The frequency of caesarean section in Slovakia increased from 24.1 % to 30.2 %. Peak of caesarean
section frequency was in the year 2013 – 30.8 %. The highest frequency of caesarean section was in Nitra region –
41.9 %, than followed regions Bratislava – 38.5 %, Trnava – 30.6 %, Presov – 29.0 %, Zilina – 28.0, Kosice – 37.4 %, Banska
Bystrica – 22.4 %. The lowest frequency of caesarean section was in region Trencin – 22.2 %.
