This work presents severe acute maternal morbidity in Slovakia in the year 2013. Severe maternal morbidity was analysed
and put together processed according to the questionnaire for each case of maternal morbidity. The overall incidence
of severe acute maternal morbidity in Slovakia in the year 2013 was 5.16/1 000 deliveries, significantly lower than
in 2012. Separately, the severe postpartum haemorrhage was 1.77/1 000 deliveries, peripartum hysterectomy 0.83/1
000 deliveries, placenta accreta 0.50/1 000 deliveries, uterine rupture 0.29/1 000 deliveries, eclampsia 0.13/1 000 deliveries,
HELLP syndrome 0.56/1 000 deliveries, transport of woman to the intensive care unit/ department of anaesthesiology
and resuscitation 0.96 /1 000 deliveries and sepsis 0.06/1 000. There was not any case of non-fatal amniotic fluid
embolism in 2013.
