This work presents severe acute maternal morbidity in Slovakia in the year 2014. Severe maternal morbidity was analysed
and put together according to the questionnaires to each case of maternal morbidity. The overall incidence of severe acute
maternal morbidity in Slovakia in the year 2014 has increased to 5.87/1 000 deliveries. Separately the severe postpartum
haemorrhage was 1.84, peripartum hysterectomy 0.8, abnormally invasive placentation 0.30, uterine rupture 0.54,
eclampsia 0.22, HELLP syndrome 0.78, transport of a woman to the intensive care unit/ department of anaesthesiology
and resuscitation 1.23 and sepsis 0.15/1 000 deliveries. There was one case of non-fatal amniotic fluid embolism in 2014.
