Non-epithelial malignant ovarian tumours account for approximately 10% of all malignant ovarian tumours. The incidence
of germ cell tumours is 3.7 per 100,000 females, and in sex-cord stromal tumours is 2.1 per 1000000 women.
Because these patients are often very young and the tumours occur unilaterally, very accurate diagnosis is necessary
for deciding on the options for treatment and maintenance of fertility. The treatment is based on surgical removal of
a tumour. However, many of these tumours are very chemosensitive, and adjuvant chemotherapy at a more advanced
stage is a significant part of the treatment. The article presents the basic characteristics of these tumours, the possibilities
of their treatment and follow-up.
