Despite the worldwide preference of first-trimester screening for the detection of pregnancy with high risk of aneuploidy,
second-trimester ultrasound examination of the foetus and genetic sonogram are still of great importance.
It is due to the non-existent prevalent first-trimester screening and the optimal time for more reliable diagnosis
of congenital foetal abnormalities. Assessment of foetal face is one of the important components of prenatal sonography,
not only during the second trimester of pregnancy. Facial profile markers discovered in the course of recent
20 years have been involved in varying degrees in increasing sensitivity and reducing the false positivity in screening
programs of chromosomal abnormalities in foetuses.
