Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), a potentially fatal iatrogenic complication of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation
has been the aim of all fertility experts. Various pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
have been implemented, but the results are contradictory. The part of OHSS is an increase in vascular permeability
causing the movement of fluid out of the intravascular space, with resultant accumulation of fluid in the third space
and intravascular depletion. Prevention is better than cure in case of iatrogenic disorder, but the aim of management
is effective monitoring to confirm safe spontaneous improvement or alert the requirement for intervention due
to deterioration; the crux of which is careful fluid management.
